Both sports got learners to develop their capabilities and curiosities in these sports, form connections in both codes and to collaborate with others.

Cricket Recount

Guess what our hapu did? Our hapu went to the multispace on Monday’s. We Learned skills like Overarm Underarm and Bowling. Our first session was fun i thought. We learned overarm. I liked our coach and her name was Coach Josie. My favourite skill I learned was hitting the ball. How we hit the ball is you have to concentrate on the ball. At the end we would play a game called catch the ball. Coach Josie said. . . “You need to have your eye on the ball” “I might be tricking you” and she did. Suri was a champion at catching the ball, and she Never misses. In my mind i said”OMG SHE IS SO GOOD!”. When the balls go out of the circle Suri would always dive in and catch it. When the ball is wonking or been hit to soft Suri saved the ball like a Superheroes. Next session we were throwing the ball and trying to hit the wicket. I hit the wicket two or three times. I was proud and I thought i would do better. Our last session we were actually hitting the wicket but with a bat. I was the second to hit the ball with the bat.I hit twos of the balls. When i was the person to throw the ball coach Josie said ”Nice throw!”.I wa surprised. It might have been my best throwing the ball so good for cricket! I felt happy that was my expression I also felt excited when i went to the multispace.I hope we can meet Josie again to learn more cricket!

Narrative Assessment: Tammy and Writing

Learner: Tammy
Area:Writing Level 2
Date: 12.11.18
In Writing, we have been recounting our experiences. A recount is retelling a learner's experience from their own point of view. Some of our experiences include: the blindfold game, cricket and basketball. We have been learning to add in detail by using adjectives, verbs, feelings and emotions in our writing. Our hapu have been working hard to include at least three different words to paint a better picture for our audience.

Tammy is able to write and her build sentences into paragraphs. She has been learning to add more detail and ideas into her writing using new interesting words like adjectives and verbs. Tammy thinks carefully about her ideas and is able to put them into paragraphs. She is developing her curiosity by asking questions and is slowly making connections by using ideas discussed in a larger group. Tammy collaborates with others by sharing her ideas in discussions. She is beginning to think carefully about her ideas and the audience she is writing for.

Key Competencies: Managing Self Thinking Relating to others Participating and Contributing and through the use of digital tools - using language, symbols and texts

Next Steps:
Continue using detailed ideas in your writing
Reflect on your learning and think of how you can improve
Keep practising your writing at home

blindfold game

Guess what happened? Our hapu went to the library. We played the blindfold game My experience was okay but also scary because i thought i would bump into something. But i did not bump. I also felt cold because Jenny guided me outside till i noticed that it felt colder. I was like “Why is it so Cold?” then “AHHHHHH!” it was hilarious and not nice Next day we went on the playground and i guided Jenny. But she told me to take her to the swing and i guided her there. When it was my turn i was so scared. Because on the playground there is lots of rocks. While i was blindfolded it was so DARK! I walked so weird it was like i am a blind Zombie. I shivered a little bit because I almost tripped! :( My Experience was nice at playground and nervous and i wish i could do it again!

describe our new playground

Today we went on the playground with my hapu. We went there Because we were checking it out. The playground texture was very detailed to me. It was nice but kinda boring. The playground smelled like water and fresh air. Where i smelled the water I smelled it at the sand and the air. Everywhere looked nice and fun but there was a place we could not go yet. I liked the water. It just rolled down the rock hill because it looked satisfying to me. While it was rolling do there was a place that blocked the water from going down. If someone opens it it will go down the pit. It was called a water stopper well that was what i call it.when it opens it goes down the pit that people make. I made it to make it was destroyed. I felt bored a lot. Maybe if i play more often i might get used to it!

my 2 weeks holiday

In my 2 week holiday I went to the movies. I went with my friend Miranda. We were watching teen titans go. It was only us two no parents it was scary but i was use to it. On the start of the movie it was boring but then Robin wanted to be a movie star that is when it got better! When Robin knew they need a nemesis he need to fight a crime alert and they found Slade, but they did this instead “whoooo” “SSLLAADDEE” I was laughing in my mind. Few mins later there was a girl who was a movie maker for superheroes. Robin and his team said “please we want a movie!” But… she said “mmmm let me think NO!!” “Why not” Robin replied. “Because u guys are jokes!” “ I can make a movie only about Robin not the teen titans!” Robin was having fun at the same time not. He missed his friend. Not long after the girl said “time for the last part” and then “boom!”. He was stuck. The girl was actually SLADE!!! When slade left Robin got out and called his friend to show everyone the the girl was slade and they were like “huh OMG!” Everyone was hypnotised but no the teen titans. Atlast it was the end they defeated slade and he never came back THE END! My favourite part was were they all said “credits credits”. I felt the best than ever! I hope i go to the movies with Jenny next time.

Should we wear uniforms to school? Yes No=No I think no because if your uniform is in the washing you could wear mufti to school instead,If your mufti clothes is dirty you could wear other clothes that is mufti like my short black & white shorts and my spotty grey shirt I also think no because your school uniform might be boring and not cool enough for you. Sometimes people might call you someone else like me and Jenny! When I wear uniform i feel like i am the same as others and I want to be different.

In Maths, we have been learning about Fractions. We know that fractions are a part or piece of a whole. We have been learning to identify fractions of shapes and numbers. When trying to solve fractions of numbers, we have been using our knowledge of multiplication and division to justify our answers.

Tammy is developing her capabilities by solving fraction problems using her knowledge of multiplication and division facts. She works collaboratively and listens carefully to others share their ideas. During small group teaching, Tammy thinks about her ideas and will share her thinking with others. She is beginning to solve harder problems using what she knows about basic fractions.

should we have bubble gum at school?

I think NO because It will stick on your hair and it will be hard to take it off.your mom and dad might be mad at you for chewing gum. I also think we can’t have gum at school because it might go on the ground and stick on the carpet. It will not come off so easily. When it is stuck on the floor it could got on someone's shoe.it wil stick there and we'll be hard to get off too.

Maths: Reversibility

Learner: Tammy
Area: Maths Level 2
Date: 20.03.18
In Maths, the Cylinders group have been learning to use more than one strategy to solve harder number problems. One strategy that they have been learning is reversibility. This strategy requires the learners to change a hard subtraction problem and switch it around to make it an addition problem. For example: 82-45= ___+45=82

Tammy has been developing her skills by collaborating with other learners. She shows being capable by using materials to help her and is beginning to share her thinking with others in her group. Tammy is still beginning to develop her curiosity to ask questions and make connections with her prior knowledge to further her understanding.

Art: Tammy and Sketching

Learner: Tammy
Area: Art - Visual Arts Level 2
Date: 20.02.18
In Art, some of the learners have been learning about drawing from their own perspective and what they can see. The learners chose a specific place inside the playground and had to sketch what they saw. We were practising sketching with different lines and looking at different shapes as well as shading. It was not an easy task but learners did try their best.

Tammy has been practicing her capability by trying hard to draw from her point of view and what she saw. She showed curiosity by looking for the best place that suited her in the playground. Tammy was able to work collaboratively with others by sharing space helping others if asked. She is beginning to make connections and use techniques already learned to help her with her learning.

Key Competencies: Managing Self Thinking Relating to others Participating and Contributing and through the use of digital tools - using language, symbols and texts

Next Steps: Practice sketching only what you see, practice shading, continue to look at objects from your point of view and interpret what you see
